On Friday, the audience enjoyed a musical and theatrical spectacle on Trogir’s most beautiful square, right next to the Cathedral of St. Lawrence. As part of the Opera Selecta classical music festival, which celebrates its 16th anniversary this year, a spectacular fashion show was held to celebrate sustainability in fashion, accompanied by music specially prepared for the occasion by Ozren K. Glaser. Members of the Opera Selecta association bring the most renowned names in opera singing and instrumental classical music to our beautiful country and the City of Masters, delighting audiences with concerts in the unique Kamerlengo Tower. In recent years, alongside unforgettable concerts, Trogir enthusiasts have been organizing fashion shows open to locals and their guests, all set to the sounds of classical music.

It all started in 2021 with the desire to bring classical music closer to younger audiences, who might not be as familiar with this genre, through fashion. That year, the first major show by designer Matija Vuica was organized, celebrating her 40th career anniversary right in Trogir. The idea proved to be a great success, leading Trogir locals to enjoy the creations of Krie Design and designer Kristina Burja the following year. Last year, the Elfs duo also wowed the Trogir audience, prompting the organizers to take it a step further this year. They invited both Elfs and Krie Design, along with young talents. Joining the established names this year was the young Croatian brand Koterra by designer Katarina Jurčević. To further celebrate the fusion of cultural heritage and fashion, a ballet duo, Matea Milas and Danyil Podhrushko, performed alongside models from the Talia models agency, leaving the audience breathless with their stunning movements.

All of this is an excellent continuation of this summer’s events at the Opera Selecta festival, which, at the beginning of July, hosted perhaps the most important violinist of today, Maxim Vengerov. On July 29, the impressive lineup of performers will be joined by one of the world’s most sought-after sopranos, Serena Saenz. This demonstrates that the dedicated Trogir volunteers will not stop with their mission, and we eagerly anticipate their program for 2025.
